Why would David not fear? There seems to be plenty to fear - injury and death! He realized that destruction of the body was of little loss compared to the gain of eternal life with God - something no man could take away from David.
Is this easy to do? No, because injury and death are painful. We must fix our eyes on God as David did. Note God did not remove the trouble, but God gave David strength in the midst of trouble.
