He wa searching for answers (vs 16), and did not really come up with them, but at least he received the comfort that when we follow God, we know the end results, and for those who don't, we also know those results (vs 18-20). We must be careful not to look at worldly wealth as success, but spiritual wealth. That is the wealth we are to accumulate, and the wealth we are accumulating.
