Romans 2:5 - Additional Comments

But despite God's patience towards us, as He draws us to Himself, quite often we are not willing to reject the sin. And then naturally, our heart becomes hard, as we continue to reject Him.
And in this process, we are collecting more and more the wrath of God. Some of His wrath comes into our lives now, and we face the consequences, and some in the future. Again, we can compare to what Israel and Judah suffered, consequence along the way, but relatively minor, until their lack of repentance continued to the point where there were extreme consequences.
Compare that to how God deals with sin in your life. He brings many small circumstances to wake you up, to get you to turn. But eventually, as you continue to ignore Him, major consequences will result.
People are having to deal with the consequences of sin in their life, but few recognize the root cause of their problems. The druggie looks for a cleaner needle, the sex addict looks for protection, and the embezzler looks for a better way to manage his money. The woman of stress looks to yoga, the man of anger looks to self help books, and the depressed person looks to drugs or alcohol.
What is the root cause? Sin! What needs to be part of the cure? God. A great relationship with God.
