Mark 5:22 - Additional Comments
So many times we see the Jewish rulers mocking Jesus and seeking to condemn Him, yet this is not how Jairus came to Him. I wonder if Jairus had been skeptical and possibly even mocking, but when it came time to a need for a Savior, Jairus knew what the truth was, and came to Jesus. May we be so wise as to come to Jesus at all times, and not just in times of need.
This same event is recorded in Matthew 9:18. Instead of "fell at His feet", there the term is "worshipped", or "proskuneo", a derivative of a word meaning "to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand", there it means to prostrate oneself in homage, to do reverence to, adore, worship.
How should we come to God with requests? As this man did, with urgency, humility, worship, and faith (expectation that God will show Himself in the situation) (Hebrews 11:6).
Jairus also was probably very anxious and persistent, since he got to Jesus through the large crowd.
