The word for "begged" is "parakaleo", meaning to call near for comfort with a request. This has the same root word as "Parakletos" in John 16:7, referring to the Holy Spirit as Comforter or Helper.
Jairus has complete faith in Jesus here. Why was his faith so strong? Probably because he had seen Jesus do other work in people's lives. The more we see Jesus work, the stronger our faith will be.
"To learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings." (George Mueller)
He also said, "If the Lord fails me at this time, it will be the first time." (George Mueller)
Build your faith by trusting God in big and small situations. The more you see God respond, the stronger your faith... so you can have a faith like Jairus, or like George Mueller.
