Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

Despite all the wealth that David had, his focus was not on his wealth, but on the prosperity of God and his people. And his effort was to the utmost of his ability -- this is how we are to serve God's interest in the world.
David was uncomfortable that as God had allowed him the best of things, David felt God should have at least the same. May we always be uncomfortable if God is not magnified as we feel He should be. May we always be uncomfortable if we have great things (house, church), but God is short-changed.
We should also be concerned if we ever see God as being perceived as less value or size than He is. If we see misperceptions about God, it should burn in our hearts to make it right.
Note that those who are planning for the present or for the future should have at the forefront of the planning what are God's needs.
