To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Paul viewed this sinner as a Christian. But, he was causing so much trouble in the church, and at this time seemed to be unrepentant, so Paul viewed it that the church would be better off if this person were dead.
