And how dare you take each other to court! When you think you have been wronged, does it make any sense to go before a court that knows nothing of God’s ways instead of a family of Christians? The day is coming when the world is going to stand before a jury made up of followers of Jesus. If someday you are going to rule on the world’s fate, wouldn’t it be a good idea to practice on some of these smaller cases? Why, we’re even going to judge angels! So why not these everyday affairs? As these disagreements and wrongs surface, why would you ever entrust them to the judgment of people you don’t trust in any other way?

Picture how this would work. There is a conflict between 2 people in the church. It is something that typically would go before a judge in the municipal court system. Most of the time it would be over something owned, either money or property. They would go to someone in the church they both respected, and say we agree for your to hear both sides and to make a judgment over the issue.
To get to the point where they could not work it out together, there most certainly are bad feelings between the 2 people, so they aren't in mood for playing nice. Plus, most of the time they are focused on getting the proper legal backing for their case. It would be difficult to find the right person who is godly (probably must have the qualities of a deacon or elder) with legal knowledge, and someone they both trust. This would be a rare situation.
But, God says if you are one of the persons in a conflict with someone else in the church, this is what you should do. So, as much as you can, take this approach. If it fails, you may need to go outside of the church to get it resolved. But pursue a course of action within the church first.
