Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

John 1:12 To anyone who receives Jesus, God gives the power to become a son of God. This is something we were not, yet God changed that. We became what we weren't - children of God.
We were children of corruption and disobedience - amazing that the Father would not be ashamed to call us His children.
Believers are honored in this position, but it occurs without the awareness of the world. Little does the world know of the advancement and happiness of genuine believers. Littles does the world think that these poor and humble ones are the favorites in heaven, and will be living there soon. We may bear our burden easier knowing that the Lord was just as unknown - "it did not know Him". Little did the world realize that they were actually rejecting the God of Abraham, Isaak, and Jacob. 1 Cor 2:8 - if they had known Him, they would not have crucified Him.
