This is significant. David's sins were obvious, and David failed God many times. But David loved God, and kept coming back to God in repentance. God is praising the way David walked with Him, "in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments." David was a sinner, and fell many times, but had a great relationship with God, and that is what God wanted from Solomon, not perfection. How encouraging for the rest of us, that we can have a great relatinship with Him if we continue to repent, confess, come back to God.
