The principle of not returning evil for evil (see 3:9). When someone wrongs you, not only are you not to respond in kind, but you are to forgive and turn away. Don't turn away with the attitude of "God will get you!" Feel compassion for them, for "they know no what they do", as Jesus did to those who put Him on a cross (Luke 23:34). When Jesus was hit by evil, how did He respond? He further committed Himself to God. And that is how we are to respond to evil.
