Saul wanted to consult with God through Ahijah, not through Samuel. It was safer. Ah, before we condemn Saul, see how much we all are so like him - how rare for us to go to one who will tell us the truth we don't want to hear that would condemn us! Yet, if Saul had only gone to Samuel, and hear the truth that could heal. May I be one who seeks the truth even when it hurts.
