1 Samuel 18:3 - Additional Comments

The affection and respect went both ways, as they made a covenant to each other. They were committed to selfless service to each other for the long haul. Interesting that they were willing and able to do that, despite not knowing each other a long time.
What a difference in what we see today. People cannot even commit to their family, much less a friend. Have you ever had a friend that you would, so to speak, go to battle for? Someone that you could actually share needs with, and could call upon without feeling like you were inconveniencing them? Why is it so difficult to develop friendships like that?
Note their commitment to selfless service - when we marry, is that what we are committing to? Are you committed to selfless service to your spouse, to your children? Are you committed to your friendship? What do you do that shows that commitment? What can you do?
Are you committed to selfless service to God? What do you do that shows that commitment? What can you do?
