For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

How terrible will it be for the unbelievers when Christ arrives. They will think they have peace and safety, but it will be taken away from them. They will be in great pain, and none shall escape.
They live as Solomon once said, "So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry." (Eccl 8:15) That is only temporary, and in an instant will go away. They don't fear it, especially thinking it won't come, but if they could look at it beforehand they sure would. And it will come upon them. They will have no shelter from this storm.
