His arrival will be a surprise, as it is when a their invades a home -2 Pet 3:10.
The thief generally comes when you are sleeping or gone. That is what the thief wants. Why? Because he wants to take something away from you. What is Jesus hoping to find you doing when He arrives? What does He want to see in your life when He comes? In verse 1, we discussed what it would be like if we knew Jesus arrival was far off. But, what if we knew He was coming in exactly one week? What would your week be like? Or, even if we knew He would come tomorrow?
One of the things you might do is to resolve conflicts you have with others. Well, Jesus wants that done now, regardless of when He returns.
One of the things you might do is to avoid watching inappropriate TV, movies, or Internet.
One of the things you might do is to be extra patient when wronged or when somebody does something you don't like.
One of the things you might do is to have a renewed care and tenderness for others.
What else might you do?
Why wait? Isn't that something God really wants now anyways?
Rev 16:15 says "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."
