2 Corinthians 12:9

See the notes on vs 7. Paul welcomed his infirmities, knowing that God had orchestrated it for the best for Paul.
Also, God was focused on making sure Paul relied on God, on God's grace, rather than his own abilities. The best time for God to work in our lives is when we are weak, because His strength is more obvious. His strength is perfected when we are weak.
When we are weak, we can rely on Him for strength, instead of being fearful or avoiding what He wants because of our lack of ability.
God shines when we are weak, because it is clear the work is being done by Him, and not the abilities God has given us.
Note that when we accomplish things because of the abilities God has given us, or because we are weak and He must step in, either way, the work is getting done because of God. (1 Cor 4:7 - what do we have that we have not received?)
The fact that something is being accomplished for God through us should be a source of praise to Him, because He enabled it to happen.
Funny that Paul now is not boasting of the great things he has done, but is boasting of the infirmities and troubles (vs 10) he has, because in them the power of Christ shines.
