Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:

So to make sure there will be no slipup, I’ve recruited these brothers as an advance team to get you and your promised offering all ready before I get there. I want you to have all the time you need to make this offering in your own way. I don’t want anything forced or hurried at the last minute.

Accountability is such a critical thing to make us do what we ought, and to keep us on the right path. For most of us, it's practically impossible to get where we need to go without it. As much as Paul trusted that the Corinthians had the right heart, he sent Titus and the others to hold them accountable for it.
