A busybody is a "person who meddles or pries into the affairs of others." I would add that it depends on their intent. A busybody is one who does it for themselves, for curiosity, often to gossip. Others may pry into the affairs of others with truly noble reasons, because they care for them, and want to help. It often is a fine line. How can you tell what the intent is? It seems if the person prying has pure motives when they do not intend or want to tell others, and the motives are impure when the person prying wants to and does tell others.
