But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

In the school of Tyrannus, the lecture halls were used in the morning to teach philosophy, but were empty during the hot part of the day, from 11-4. Because many people did not work during those hours, they could come to hear Paul preach.
