Amos 7:1

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

Amos 7:1 - Additional Comments
Amos, in verses 1, 4, 7 says God showed Him, verifying that he was a prophet of God. He had direct revelation from God. These were 3 visions, for the first 2 end in God saying "It shall not be."
Uzziah, who was now king of Judah, loved farming, 2 Chr. 26:10. God tried to get him at what mattered most to him.
There were 2 sets of crops, 2 times of harvest, 2 mowings. Locusts coming at the start of the late crop means they will devour it, yet God chose not to touch the first growth, which is usually much more valuable than the later. They had already mowed the first and stored it away for food (see verse 2).
These locust swarms were created directly by God for the purpose of punishment to Israel.
