Colossians 1:23 - Additional Comments
If we do not continue, it's not that we are no longer saved, but our relationship with God becomes sour. God's view of us becomes tainted (vs 22).
So, what are we to do?
- continue in the faith - keep it up, keep strong in our relationship with God
- grounded - building a solid foundation that becomes rock solid
- steadfast - with determination we keep moving in the right direction
- keep the hope of the gospel - there is a reason for the effort we make - the hope of life with God - it is not just a vain striving, but there is a solid benefit that is the focus of our hope (see also vs 27)
Paul was a minister of this hope, as in reality we all are. Otherwise, how does it get "preached to every creature under heaven"?
