Ephesians 2:16 - Additional Comments

Typically we see, in the O.T., the Gentiles were the enemies of the Jews (1 Chr 16:35), but God intended for Jews to be priests to the Gentiles (Psa 67:2-5, Isa 42:6-7, 2 Chr 32:23). But, God also required the Jews to be separate from the Gentiles (Exo 23:31-33, Psa 106:35). Because of this required distinction by God, the Jews became isolationists, excluding all non-Jews, having nothing to do with them. From this exclusion, a great enmity existed between Jews and non-Jews. The Jews were excluded from joining them in their ways without God, but they should have welcomed them to their ways with God. We must work to never become part of the world, but always welcome them to become part of our world, with a relationship with God.
