These types of speech are described in 4:29 as corrupt, unwholesome, diseased.
Bottom line is to get rid of these words, the heart needs to change.
Bitterness - as a result of hurt, unforgiveness builds to the point of wanting harm for the other person. This comes out as touchiness, lack of caring, criticism, stubbornness, mood swings, harshness.

Wrath - bursts of rage, violent passions, temper tantrums. This comes out as loud bursts of words without thought or care (see Prov 25:28).
Anger - internal hostility. This also comes out as words without care, but this may not be as immediate as wrath. This may fester for a long time, and increase over time.
Clamor - loud, continuous noise of displeasure, angry arguing or bickering. E.g. of some couples ride to church. It is a bold assertion of rights (i.e. not denying self).
Evil speech - insults, slander, abusive speech. (Ever hear of a woman in an abusive situation with her husband -- it may not be physical, but verbal.) Are you always right? Are you always correcting your spouse? Do you "teach" your spouse? Do you encourage her to improve, while what you are really doing is being abusive? Do you ever make fun of anyone you see, for weight, looks, size, shape, voice, intelligence, etc? Do you talk about leadership at work or church in a destructive way? Or family members?
Malice - wishing evil on others, spite, meanness, hurtful intent.
