Exodus 17:8 - Additional Comments
This was the first battle the nation of Israel fought. Amalek was the grandson of Esau, Israel's brother. Esau's family became the nation of Edom. Israel fought against both Edom and Amalek. Even though it appeared Esau forgave his brother Jacob (Israel), there must still have been bitterness, otherwise the nations probably would have been one, and not become enemies. Joseph forgave his brothers, otherwise the nation of Joseph would probably be enemies with Israel, the other 11 brothers.
