Exodus 32:1 - Additional Comments
When God doesn't do things in the time we want, we are tempted to take matters into our own hands. We revert back to our old ways. Here the Hebrews were reverting back to the ways they had learned in Egypt. When it seems like God doesn't answer, we may look for wisdom and guidance from false things. The challenge is to trust God even when He is silent.
Why did the people drift when Moses was gone? As many do in churches today, their faith depends too much on the pastor or spiritual leader in the church. When that leader leaves, all falls apart. We need a faith build on a foundation of God, and nothing in the world should be the base for the foundation.
