Genesis 37:6 - Additional Comments

Joseph was more a prophet than a politician, otherwise he would not have revealed the dreams. Prophets have the God-given boldness to reveal truth, often regardless of how the recipients will take it. Joseph certainly knew his brothers already hated him, and this could only server to fuel that fire.
Note that God revealed the exhaltation Joseph would receive, but did not reveal any details of the painful path he would take to get there. If he had known, would he have accepted the assignment? Was it worth it? What if Joseph had chosen not to follow God's plan on this one? The famine would have destroyed nations.
We must trust God that when he allows trials in our lives, He is fulfilling His ultimate purpose, and that it is with love He has built His plan. We will never know all that God does when we follow Him and His plans for us. (Yeesh, can we even thank God during trials? See 1 Thess 5:18.)
