Genesis 39:1 - Additional Comments

Psa 105:17 refers to Joseph's trip to Egypt as being sent by God there. God had a purpose and a plan for Joseph.
They took Joseph all the way from Canaan to Egypt, about a 300 mile journey. Joseph had a lot of time to think about what his brothers had done, and also to be with God. If they traveled 15 miles a day, it would have taken 20 days.
Note that Potiphar was an officer of Pharaoh - this means Joseph very likely in a few years became a ruler over Potiphar. Here's someone who was Potiphar's slave and eventually thrown into prison for misdeeds, becoming his boss.
Note the Ishmaelites weren't from this area, but they knew there'd be a good sale of slaves to the Egyptians.
Potiphar had no idea what a bargain he was getting when he bought Joseph.
Working for Potiphar probably trained Joseph to manage Egypt, as he learned to manage Potiphar's household. If God has plans for you, if He has an assignment for you, He'll train you for it, to make sure you are ready (God's boot camp).
