Genesis 39:2 - The Message
As it turned out, God was with Joseph and things went very well with him. He ended up living in the home of his Egyptian master. His master recognized that God was with him, saw that God was working for good in everything he did. He became very fond of Joseph and made him his personal aide. He put him in charge of all his personal affairs, turning everything over to him. From that moment on, God blessed the home of the Egyptian—all because of Joseph. The blessing of God spread over everything he owned, at home and in the fields, and all Potiphar had to concern himself with was eating three meals a day.

Genesis 39:2 - Additional Comments
Note that those with wisdom and grace cannot have that taken from them, despite whatever else they are robbed of. In the same way, they cannot take away their relationship with God.
Joseph probably started out in very basic service, since he was the newest salve. But that seems to change quickly. He who is faithful with little can be trusted with much (Matt 25:21, Luke 16:10). But the key to Joseph's success was that the Lord was with him. But why was the Lord with him?
Joseph had a choice on how he would respond to the trials he'd been facing, and the circumstances he found himself in. He could have become bitter, asking God why, become angry, become depressed, withdraw, or, as he did, trusted God. The reason why the Lord was with Joseph was because of Joseph's relationship with the Lord.
