And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

The ark was very big. The cubit is generally considered to be about 18 inches, so this would make the ark about 450 x 75 x 75 feet. That would make it capable of storing the equivalent of 569 standard railroad stock cars. It may have been shaped very much like a rectangular box.
