Genesis 6:22 - Additional Comments

By faith Noah obeyed God (Heb 11:7). He had to move on faith, for he didn't know rain, floods, boats, or even conceive of what it would be like to terminate all life on earth. (See notes on Hebrews 11:1.)
Because God is faithful, we can have faith in Him.
The root of "faithful" means "true", i.e. true to your word and people's expectations of you. God is completely faithful (Lam 3:22-23, Psa 33:4, Psa 117:2, Psa 145:13, Num 23:19). We are to be completely faithful to God, as Noah was. The Spirit enables our faithfulness (Gal 5:22-23). God's ultimate act of faithfulness is the fulfillment of His promises by sending His Son for us (2 Cor 1:20).
