Habakkuk 1:2 - Additional Comments

Habakkuk is unique among the prophets in that he openly questions the wisdom of God. He sees the injustice among his people and asks why God does not take action.
He expected chastisement from God (2:1).
There were similar cries out to God by Job (Job 19:7, 30:20) and Daivd (Psalm 88:13-14).
God tells Habakkuk to be patient, but in due time God will respond to his requests (2:3).
But this trouble has been brought on by the iniquity of the nation of Judah. And God says:
- Prov 28:9 One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination.
- Psa 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.
Sins blocks the effectiveness of our prayers. This includes any bitterness, critical attitude, or hate. Your attitudes make or break your prayer effectiveness.
