Hosea 4:5

Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

This sin and hardness of heart was so pervasive it affected even the prophets.
"Don't you go talkin' 'bout my mother!" They've been told of many bad things, and now this tops them all - the threat to destroy their mother! :-)
