They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.

What a statement of these people - they have dealt treacherously whit God! They have played the harlot, both spiritually and physically, and in both cases bore illegitimate children. Spiritually there were drawing others to the false gods.
The result? Not only does if affect them now, but all they have received as their birth right (inheritance, etc.).
