Jeremiah 1:13

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

Jeremiah 1:13 - Additional Comments

In addition to the timing of the destruction of Jerusalem (early, quickly - vss 11-12), God now describes the type of destruction, as boiling liquid when poured destroys all in its path. Babylon is that boiling pot. They have already defeated Assyria, which had conquered Israel, and now Babylon is ready and poised to conquer Judah.
