God gave His calling to Jeremiah when Jeremiah was probably in his teens, maybe 16 or 17.
Note that Jeremiah did not marvel, as far as we can tell, that God was speaking to him, or giving him his calling.
God is speaking to Jeremiah, telling Jeremiah his plans for Jeremiah's life. And Jeremiah starts to make excuses.
