Jeremiah 20:14 - The Message
Curse the day
I was born!
The day my mother bore me—
a curse on it, I say!
And curse the man who delivered
the news to my father:
"Youve got a new baby—a boy baby!"
(How happy it made him.)
Let that birth notice be blacked out,
deleted from the records,
And the man who brought it haunted to his death
with the bad news he brought.
He should have killed me before I was born,
with that womb as my tomb,
My mother pregnant for the rest of her life
with a baby dead in her womb.
Why, oh why, did I ever leave that womb?
Lifes been nothing but trouble and tears,
and whats coming is more of the same.

Jeremiah 20:14 - Additional Comments
Wow, what emotions Jeremiah has. One moment (vs 13) he is singing and praising God, and now he is cursing his life. Despite the fact that Jeremiah is doing right, that God is behind him, that God is protecting him (vs 13), his life is hard, and the persecution is taking its toll on him.
We should never think that Christianity is guaranteed to be easy, even with a right heart and God's support. We need to be careful to not let challenges draw us away from our faith and relationship with God, like in the parable of the sower (Mark 4:3-20).
How would we act, do what is right and face persecution, or do nothing (or worse yet, deny our faith) and avoid conflict?
