Jeremiah 20:2

Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.

Such humiliation Jeremiah faced, to be placed in the stocks for all the people to see (for it was in the high gate in the temple, a busy area of Jerusalem). He was forced to stay in the stocks for one day (vs 3).
