Jeremiah 32:8

Jeremiah 32:8 - Additional Comments

Here is the word of the Lord to Jeremiah - buy this land. Jeremiah was in prison, in a city under siege by those he knows will overthrow it (see vs 25), and the land is outside the city, certain to be taken by the Chaldeans. God's ways are not our ways, and this is an extreme example of it. A seemingly odd request, yet Jeremiah obeys, and without delay (vs 9). It is critical that when God tells us what to do, we not only obey, but obey without delay (reminder of Jonah's delay).
God later makes some sense of this purchase - see vss 15, 37-44. The purchase will later again be worth something.
God demenstrated His reality to Jeremiah with this fulfilled prophesy. How has He shown Himself to you, and what does it take to convince you He is active in your life?
