Many through out history would marvel at what Christ was able to do. They marvelled at the man. Napoleon Bonaparte said "I know men and I tell you, Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded his empire upon love; and at this hour, millions would die for him."
But notice who was doing the work. We see here that the way was paved for Jesus even before He arrived - His way was paved by God. What He did was not the amazing acts of a clever person, but the result of God's work. We need not marvel at the person - we need to marvel at God's work.
