Jesus was probably up near Galilee, about 75 miles from Bethany. Or somewhere along the Jordan, closer to Bethany. He was probably a 1-2 days' journey from Jerusalem (i.e., Bethany, which is less than an hour from Jerusalem). It took 1 day for the messenger to arrive, then Jesus delayed 2 days, then they took the fourth day to return to Judea.
