John 20:8 - Additional Comments
John was encouraged by Peter's courage. We need to be together to provide support and encouragement to each other (Eccl 4:9-10).
What was it he "believed" at this point? Did he believe that Jesus was alive, or did he just believe that the body was stolen? I expect he believed that Jesus was now alive (John wrote this book, so he was commenting retrospectively). He did not yet have the power to conquer fear (verse 19 they were afraid of the Jews), but he still may have believed that Jesus was alive.
Peter at this point probably did not believe, but wondered, marveled (Luke 24:12).
