John 4:22 - Additional Comments

The Samaritans worshipped in ignorance.
- It constantly deviated from the revealed truth of God.
- The Messiah was to be a Jew, not a Samaritan.
- Sincerity is never enough to worship God. It must be combined with truth.
- To worship a god who does not conform to the truths of Scripture is practicing idolatry.
Jesus makes is clear from which group salvation was to come - the Jews, not the Samaritans. The Samaritans did not understand what it was they were worshipping, but the Jews did.
