Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

John 4:23 - Additional Comments

The long-standing dispute between the Samaritans and the Jews has become irrelevant with the coming of the Messiah.
- No longer did man need to seek God's presence in one place.
- God is not to be worshipped in a place, but in a person - Jesus Christ.
There must be no deception or worship of the wrong things in our worship. Worship must be in truth.
True worship of God is prompted and produced by the Holy Spirit, which comes from trusting in Christ as the Messiah. See Matt. 3:11, Luke 11:3, John 7:39, John 14:26, Acts 5:32.
- See Romans 14:17-18, Eph 1:13-14, 4:30.
Worship in both truth (doctrine) and devotion prompted by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). Without Jesus as the focus of the worship (even with sincerity), it cannot be real worship - it is missing the truth (Rom 10:2-3).
Without sincerity in your heart, doing homage and reverence, it cannot be real worship (i.e. acting it out or attending the worship is not worship)
(Not everyone is seeking to falsely worship God. They are sincere. But you can be sincere and be wrong.)
