John 4:44 - Additional Comments

Those in Jesus' home town of Nazareth (in Galilee) did not see Him as a prophet. See Matthew 13:53-58. They did not honor Him. Interesting that they chose not to honor Him, yet God honored Him! We must be careful to honor what God honors, and disdain what God disdains. Unfortunately, Nazareth responded to Jesus in a manner often received by prophets.
Why was it difficult for those in Nazareth to respect Jesus? Is it difficult to respect and honor those who are closest to you? Why are we most impatient with those closest to us? Why do we give more respect to strangers than family?
