Think of what the servants have just gone through. Their master ran off to find this Jesus, probably as a last hope. While he is gone, the child suddenly gets better.
They must have met very close to Cana, for the servants probably began their journey as soon as the son healed, but the nobleman waited until the following day (see verse 52, referring to the comment about "yesterday").
Compare verses 50 and 51. Jesus was right -- it happened exactly as said it would.
