John spoke of Jesus, and in so doing he was telling of universal truth. Jesus brought the truth. These were not a mere attempt at the universal truth - this is the truth. When you speak of Jesus, you do not speak mere words of your opinion, your worldview - you are speaking universal all-encompassing truth.
