Flax was a plant with light blue flowers which grew up to 3 feet in height. It's woody stalk furnished fiber which was used to make fine linen. Flax had been grown in Egypt (Ex 9:31). The virtuous woman would sew garments with flax (Prov 31:13). It's used for fine linen in Isaiah 19:9, and possibly Luke 23:53 in Jesus' burial.
