Circle the city once. Repeat this for six days. Have seven priests carry seven ram’s horn trumpets in front of the Chest. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, the priests blowing away on the trumpets. And then, a long blast on the ram’s horn—when you hear that, all the people are to shout at the top of their lungs. The city wall will collapse at once. All the people are to enter, every man straight on in."

Joshua 6:2 - Additional Comments

Wow. God announces something that will happen as if it already happened. But with God, saying something will happen is a guaranteed as if saying something already happened. God did not say "I will do it", but "I have already done it".
Joshua was prepared already for God to lead him and Israel into battle (Joshua 5:13-15).
God was making it clear that He is the source of victory. Before any activity had even begun, God told Joshua not only that they would win, but Who the source is for their victory. We need to recognize the same, Who the source is for our victories. It is not by our might or wisdom or abilities, but by Him. See Zech 4:6, Psalms 20:6-8. 44:3-7. In the same way, God is the author of victory in our lives over the things and ways of the world (1 John 4:4, 5:4-5).
Note that this is not really a contest of Jericho and Israel, but a contest between Jericho and God. So, who shall prevail?
