Hebrews 12:6 "For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives."
Reproof is an act of love, and even though Jesus had just met them, He still wanted the best for them, and so gives reproof. Yet, reproof always must be with examination, gentleness, and love, otherwise it comes out like Martha's comments, harsh and inaccurate complaints.
Those near Christ knew that when something was amiss, they were sure to hear about it from Christ. Yes, in the right way. May we be the same for those we love. (Do you 'reprove' your spouse, or fuss and complain? Big difference.)
