Luke 24:27 - Additional Comments

The entire Old Testament was written about or toward Christ. He may have quoted from Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, and drawn from such types as the smitten rock (Ex 17:6; 1 Cor 10:4).
Can you imagine walking for several miles with Jesus as He explained history, completely accurately, from the beginning until then, and the purpose for His coming? Out of any event in the Bible, this may be where I most would have wanted to be.
We have heard teaching about the Bible many times. There must be inerrancies in our teachings, but Jesus' explanation was perfect. What a difference between His sermons and what we can do. Hopefully we are close to on target!
He soon after expounded upon Scripture to the eleven, and these 2, and others (verse 45).
Jesus may have selected these 2 for this discourse, knowing they would return to Jerusalem and share with the apostles (verse 35). This may have been Jesus' technique for beginning to spread and explain what had happened and why.
He had to explain that the sufferings (verse 26) were not only expected but required for God's purpose in Jesus.
The things of Christ need to be explained, as with the eunuch (Acts 8:31), who was well read in OT, but did not understand the Messiah.
Wouldn't it be great if Jesus could be here in person to explain modern day events and how they fit into Scripture?
